Quiet, family-owned spot on the square. The thick corn chips and salsa is enough to get me there. The iced tea is great, and the rest of the menu is simple and delicious. The seating is very limited, and that's unfortunate. The restaurant hours and days are not regular, and it's frustrating to find they're closed unexpectedly.
It was an awesome meal. The enchiladas and tacos are always great! Their salsa and chips is the best in town!
This is by far the best Tex-Mex restaurant in Wharton. Family owned and run. The food here really tastes home made and authentic. Always fresh and has an amazing flavor that other restaurants in the area fail to deliver. I've had their carne guisada and it was very savory and delicious with an amazing gravy full of flavor. I also like to eat their seafood or fish soups, they are so light and tasty. Unlike other restaurants, Cuevas seafood soup has more than just shrimp and fish, it also has some calamari and imitation crab, something i would expect from a real authentic Mexican restaurant. The service is always top notch, very pleasant people.
Ate here and was overcharged $135 for soup, the owner seems to not want to own up to something that was his fault and is blaming the bank, I am really disappointed in how the situation was handled seeing as it was the fault of the owner. If you eat here i would recommend only paying cash, this situation has been a huge headache for me. The food is great but the customer service is other wise.
Owner DOES NOT want to serve (Black people)African Americans and stated to me he does not want or need Black ppl money and absolutely refused to serve me! I could not believe such a thing is still happening in small town 2016 America where we're all just trying to survive this economic crisis plaguing our country. I live in this town, my money helps to support our community, but he publicly states he does not wish to provide services to African Americans. I'm happy to take my hard earned money somewhere else, but that's not enough...please stand with me to send this owner and others like him a message letting them know there was a time in America when this behavior toward other races of people was allowed, NEVER accepted, but allowed none-the-less. However for the sake of our grandchildren... that behavior will no longer be tolerated!!!!! Let's ALL take our money somewhere else until he get that message and treat everyone with dignity and respect regardless of the color of their skin or he can no longer afford to operate in our community.
